July 2009 Dollar Bill Business Card Winner

Dollar Bill Business Card Winner - July 2009
Mike Morris – Dollar Bill Business Card Winner – July 2009

Congratulations to Mike Morris of  Gamerz Planet in Grand Junction, Colorado for winning our dollar bill business card monthly drawing for July 2009.   We asked Mike to provide us with a few words about himself and his business and this is what he told us:

1st we were thrilled to win the July contest – thank you!

In our business we buy/sell/trade video games and dvd movies; we are in a small rural community of just over 40k population and last year in our first full year of operation we exceeded our 5th year sales projections, however inspite of our early success we still estimate that well over 70% of our community has never heard of us.  The toughest thing we have found is getting customer awareness that we are open for business and them into the store. We have had every media possible come into our store and make glorious promises of what advertising with them would do for us; the one guaranteed result we saw from advertising on TV/Radio/Newspapers is a healthy bill/invoice due the next month(s) which typically negates any slight sales increase we might have seen in sales/foot traffic. In these tightening economic times we’d love to have an unlimited marketing budget but the truth is as a new business we’d prefer to re-invest our money on increasing our inventory selection versus sinking it into expensive media advertising that frequently goes unheard. The most effective advertising efforts we have done have been our gorilla marketing which is where we use the Dollar Card Marketing. We establish relationships with various local entities (apartment complexes, trailer parks, home owner associations, churches/youth groups, local middle & high schools and at drive thru windows of fast food resteraunts) and then leave them with some of our Dollar Bill w/various targeted marketing promotions for them – people love getting the Dollar Bills and sure remember them unlike other business cards & marketing flyers.

Marketing yourself doesn’t have to be Expensive, Difficult or Boring - it’s easy and fun! Find out for yourself how Easy is it to generate excitement and awareness of your business from new potential customers about getting one of your Dollar Bill Cards versus a Business Cards or Flyer… Take a regular business card and drop it on the floor of a busy fast food resteraunt during a high school lunch break; now try the same thing with one of your Dollar Cards – the excitement and buzz from the kids of getting one of your Dollar Bill Cards is exciting & fun. Unlike traditional business cards/flyers that tend to be either forgotten or thrown away the Dollar Bill Cards tend to be passed on from one person to another because of their novelty until they reach your potential target market.

Again, congratulations to Mike Morris and thank you for entering our monthly dollar bill business card giveaway.

If you’re reading this and would like to know how YOU can enter to win a set of free business cards that look like real money, then simply go to our home page and enter your name and email address in the window that floats in from the right.  It’s easy and free!

Brandon Oakley - June Dollar Business Card Winner

Congratulations to Brandon Oakley, winner of our Free Business Cards for June 2009!  Brandon was kind enough to send us the following email regarding his experience with Dollar Card Marketing and his dollar bill business cards:

Thank you John and Dollar Card Marketing. I am the sales manager of Arkansas largest horse and livestock trailer store. We are located just off of I-40 in Morrilton. We sell utility, cargo, livestock and living quarters horse trailers. Whatever your trailer need is we can accommodate it. I love seeing my customers face when I hand them my dollar bill business cards. Sometimes I get the response of my customer trying to hand them back while others stop and stare and think, “Is this guy crazy, or what?”. Either way the cards have worked well for me and I look forward to trying out my new 20 dollar cards. Thanks,   Brandon Oakley of www.TrailerStore.net

Free Business Card Winner – January 2009

Free Dollar Bill Business Card Winner - January 2009Congratulations, Rob Marlbrough of WebWizards.net for being our FIRST dollar bill business card monthly winner!

Rob got started in web design and web hosting back in late 1996 with a friend needing a web site. He felt the need for friendly, supportive web site services, decided he could do better than what was currently offered, and began spreading the word of his services. With a few dozen customers, in March of 1997, Web Wizards was officially launched. Rob’s technical background includes everything to do with computers… from programming TRS-80′s in his 5th grade computer lab, to programming his very first computer, a Commodore 64, and having to leave it on overnight, because he didn’t yet have a disk drive for it to store his programs on. He got awarded a National University summer programming scholarship in the 8th grade. He was the only kid in his class that turned in his homework printed out from his computer. He’s been online since modems existed, and ran a BBS from his bedroom since before high school.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Business, with an emphasis in Information Systems, from San Diego State University. His favorite classes were business marketing, psychology, international business, comparative programming languages, and introspective literature. He was a teaching assistant for COBOL, and was good with the flowcharts. He programmed his PC to process all his matrix math equation homework, and knew the process forwards and backwards once he was done debugging it.

He has been involved in most everything computer-related, including the Amiga and selling Video Toaster systems. His experience includes jobs as a PC salesperson, a PC repair technician, and he used to run a PC consulting business. He’s done database design and programming, programming on Silicon Graphic computers. He’s learned most flavors of UNIX, he’s done IconAuthor, then moved on to Visual Basic and ASP. He’s gotten his feet wet in Perl, DHTML, Java, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, XML, and most other web technologies and languages.

Most everything related to the Web has been self-taught. He has managed networks, Linux servers, Windows NT/2000 servers, and has a LAN at his house connecting a half-dozen or so computers, complete with a wireless network to three laptops. He reads almost every computer and Internet magazine that exists. He has the answer or can find an answer fast for almost any computer question.

His hobbies include running a stellar web services company, answering email at all hours of the day, including on trips to Disneyland and vacations in Las Vegas. Other hobbies include watching movies, either on the big screen in the theatres, or on the DVD at home; he’s a big NetFlix.com fan. He tries to read a few books, but rarely has free time. He also enjoys photography, art, and all kinds of music. He is especially amused with writing in the third person. ;-)

It figures, he was born in Silicon Valley, the year Intel was busy inventing their first microprocessor, the 4004.
